While resilient journalists continue to produce outstanding work and Americans’ appetite for news is now larger than ever, the profession continues to operate in tumultuous times. Artificial intelligence, the remote work revolution, elusive Generation Z readers and viewers – these are just some of the challenges journalism leaders have faced this year. With months still to go, 2023 has already become the year with the highest number of  journalism job cuts on record, with even more expected due to a slow ad market, subscription fatigue, and debt from consolidation. This session will explore staying ahead of the trends, as top newsroom leaders reveal how they plan to navigate through tricky times and manage newsrooms where innovative journalism can still happen.
