Bans on books and rainbow flags. LGBTQ+ focused curriculum curtailed. Restrictions on the rights of trans and nonbinary students to play sports, be known by their correct names and more. As courtroom rulings deliver blow after blow to LGBTQ+ expression and education in schools, journalists must understand the connections between these policies and the wider backlash against LGBTQ+ rights in 2023. A panel of journalists, and legal and education experts will discuss the landscape to help attendees cover these issues responsibly.
