COVID-19 POLICYOur safety protocols are informed by COVID-19 guidance from the Philadelphia visitors bureau and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Vaccination Status- You must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend the Convention. To ensure your vaccinations are up-to-date, please refer to the CDC guidelines.
- We also encourage attendees to get up-to-date booster shots. We ask that you follow your local recommendations on getting booster shots before attending NLGJA23. Be prepared to show proof of vaccination when checking in at the registration desk.
Masking- NLGJA23 is a mask-friendly environment, and while masks will not be required, we do encourage all participants to wear well-fitting masks in indoor public settings. Please be respectful of attendees choosing to wear a mask to our event and refrain from making any negative comments about mask-wearing.
Testing
- We strongly encourage a self-test within 48 hours of your first day at NLGJA23. Some people receive a positive test result before showing symptoms, so tests are a critical way of helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
- For all participants: If you receive a positive self-test or PCR test, OR have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19 within five days of the event, do not attend NLGJA23.
Reporting Cases
- If you test positive at any time during or immediately after attending NLGJA23, we request that attendees do the following:
- Alert association staff by emailing info@nlgja.org with your name and the date of your positive test. All of your personal information will be kept private; knowing when there are positive cases will help staff track any potential spread and determine communication needs.
- Alert your local health department. This will help public health officials track official caseloads.
- Alert anyone you have been in close contact with, so that they can begin self-monitoring for symptoms and potential infections.
By registering, you agree to abide by all rules and requirements that may be in place now or later, including during the convention. By registering, you agree that these rules are subject to change at NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists sole discretion, including but not limited to the possibility of mandating masks at convention. You understand that refusal to adhere to rules and requirements may lead to immediate expulsion with no refund for registration or any event and activation.
