Gabriele Magni (he/him/his) is assistant professor of political science, Founding Director of the LGBTQ+ Politics Research Initiative, and Director of the Global Policy Institute at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He is also a visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York. His research examines public opinion, voting behavior and political representation, with a focus on immigration and LGBTQ+ politics. Gabriele is currently working on a book that explores the experiences of LGBTQ+ politicians, analyzing the challenges they face as candidates and the impact they have as elected officials. His work has appeared in leading academic journals, including The American Political Science Review, The American Journal of Political Science, and The Journal of Politics. His research has been supported by the Haas Fund Fellowship, the American Political Science Association, and the Royster Society of Fellows. Before joining Loyola Marymount, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Princeton University. A first-generation college student, Gabriele received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. from the University of Bologna, and a B.A from the University of Milan.
