Meghan Rafferty is the executive producer of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, a position she has held since September 2021. Under her leadership, Nightly won a Murrow Award for Best Newscast, and accolades for in-depth investigative and foreign reports. Rafferty joined NBC Nightly News as senior producer in 2017, working on breaking and investigative reports, from the grounding of Boeing 737 MAX to covering the longest government shutdown in history. In 2018, as Nightly’s senior broadcast producer, Rafferty lead the team in the control room throughout the pandemic. In early 2021, Rafferty began coordinating Cross Platform Initiatives across NBC News broadcast and digital platforms.
Prior to joining NBC News, Rafferty was with CNN for 10 years where she produced Wolf Blitzer’s newsmaker interviews with Presidents and world leaders. Rafferty won an Emmy for her role in the network’s 2012 election coverage and a Peabody for her work in the field during the 2011 Gulf Oil Spill. In 2009, she also launched Christiane Amanpour’s Amanpour program, working as the lead editorial producer.
Rafferty holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Boston University.
