Pia Sarkar is a veteran journalist with more than 25 years of experience. She is currently the deputy business editor for enterprise and storytelling at The Associated Press. Sarkar also serves as an editor on the AP's national Race & Ethnicity team and is a member of the AP Stylebook committee. Before joining the AP, Sarkar worked for various publications, including as executive editor of The American Lawyer website. She also worked as a reporter for TheStreet.com, the San Francisco Chronicle, The (Bergen) Record and The Providence Journal. Sarkar is the secretary/treasurer for the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, as well as a board member of the South Asian Journalists Association. She is also a longtime member of the Asian American Journalists Association, where she has served two terms as vice president of civic engagement.
