Steven Overly is a journalist in Washington, D.C., with over a decade of experience covering stories at the intersection of business, technology and politics. He currently hosts POLITICO Tech, a daily podcast exploring the ways technology is disrupting politics and policy. As a reporter at POLITICO, he previously covered global trade and economics, and Silicon Valley's influence operations in the nation's capital. Steven started his career at The Washington Post as a staff writer covering business and technology news, including the rise of artificial intelligence and self-driving vehicles. Steven earned a master’s degree from Columbia University, where he studied economics and business journalism as a Knight-Bagehot fellow. He also graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he served as editor-in-chief of The Diamondback, the independent student newspaper. Steven has taught journalism and media relations at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. He is the D.C. chapter president of NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists.
