Meet Tylan John Jennings, an extraordinary trans man who has shattered barriers and illuminated the world of media production. With a trailblazing spirit, Tylan has risen to remarkable heights in his career, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
Hailing from Cleveland, Tylan embarked on his journey as an intern at 19 Action News while honing his skills at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting. Swiftly climbing the ladder of success, he ascended from a dedicated production assistant and weekend graphic artist to a digital reporter and producer. Tylan's thirst for knowledge led him to traverse the nation, gaining invaluable experience at various stations, and evolving into a true luminary of the broadcasting world.
Notably, Tylan's dedication was acknowledged with the prestigious National Association of Black Journalists Salute to Excellence in Television award in 2021. This accolade stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence and the positive impact he's had on the industry.
Tylan's journey has been marked by a series of pivotal milestones. From his role as a community web producer/reporter in Columbia, South Carolina, to his executive producer positions in Great Falls, Montana, Fort Myers, and Columbus, Ohio, he has consistently raised the bar for journalistic innovation. Along the way, he also earned a scholarship to the esteemed Poynter Institute of Journalism, a testament to his thirst for knowledge and self-improvement.
In 2022, Tylan's achievements reached new heights as he returned to Scripps in San Diego and was further honored by his induction into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
As an Emmy and Associated Press Award-Winning Executive Producer, Tylan's work has not only captivated audiences but also contributed to the advancement of the industry. His groundbreaking docuseries, "The Conversation," garnered him the 2021 NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists) Salute to Excellence award, showcasing his ability to create impactful content that resonates deeply.
Tylan's journey is one of inspiration and triumph, highlighting his unyielding determination, dedication to nurturing the next generation of journalists, and his passion for pushing boundaries. Currently holding the role of Executive Producer at KPIX San Francisco within the Paramount Global family, Tylan continues to make his mark on the media landscape.
